MVN has their take on the game
Wednesday saw the first meeting between the Anaheim Ducks and San Jose Sharks in pre-season and it was not a particularly impassioned affair. The lackluster performance, which saw only 7 shots on goal in the first two periods, earned the Ducks extra ice time at practice yesterday, including an extended aerobic conditioning stint. The result was a more energetic game.
Ilya Bryzgalov took his turn in goal for the Ducks and Evgeni Nabokov was in goal for the Sharks. Both goaltenders played well. The Sharks scored first at 11:01 in the first period on a power play goal from Joe Pavelski. Bobby Ryan tied things up in the second period on a power play goal of his own at 7:01. The Sharks took the lead again at 10:31 with aother power play goal from young rookie Devin Setoguchi. The Sharks went into the third period with a 2-1 lead and a power play opportunity due to a late second period penalty by Sean O’Donnell.
