MVN - The Bear Cave has a look at the trade as well

Boston, MA- While the Bruins were out practicing Monday in preparation for their rematch with the Montreal Canadiens, General Manager Peter Chiarelli was on the phone finalizing a trade with Brian Burke and the Anaheim Ducks. The Bruins dealt center Mark Mowers to the Ducks, in exchange for defensemen Brett Skinner and Nathan Saunders.

Mowers, 33, leaves the organization after spending just one season with the Bruins. In 78 games with the Bruins last season, the Decatur, GA native scored five goals, and had twelve assists for 17 points. He also had just 26 penalty minutes. Mowers’ primary role with the Bruins was as a fourth line center. He was a player looked at to bring energy onto the ice, and keep the pressure on the opponent’s defensemen. He wasn’t really a flashy player, and had the ability to find the net on occasion, but it was his constant effort that kept him in the NHL. In his career, Mowers has spent 261 games in the NHL with Nashville, Detroit, and Boston, racking up 17 goals and 44 assists for 61 points.
