Anaheim Ducks News - Ducks Lose 4-0

It was like Jekyll and Hyde with the Ducks tonight. First Period they played with speed and aggressiveness that I have not seen much of this year. The second period they were driven back on their heels by the Canucks first and the refs second. Thankfully the game ended after 4 5-3 advantages for the Canucks and one penalty shot( they missed). It was very painful to watch the second half of the game. Well if you are glutton for punishment, here is the game report.

British Columbia (AP) -Roberto Luongo bought his Canucks enough time to get going offensively and avenge last season's playoff loss to Anaheim.

Luongo made 15 of his 26 saves in the first period, and Vancouver responded with three-straight goals in the second en route to a 4-0 win over the Ducks on Tuesday night. Ryan Kesler added his second of the game on a third-period power play as the Canucks improved to 8-1-2 in their last 11 games.

"Our first period was poor, but after that I thought we poured it on and dominated the game, said Markus Naslund, who had a goal and an assist.

Todd Bertuzzi downplayed the hype of playing his first NHL game in Vancouver in 17 months.

But Tuesday turned out to be a night to remember for all the wrong reasons.

Bertuzzi was on the ice for both of Vancouver's even-strength goals as the Canucks scored a rare 4-0 victory over the Anaheim Ducks.

Markus Naslund, one of Bertuzzi's best friends on the Canucks before he was traded to Florida in June 2006, opened the scoring and added an assist.

Markus Naslund and the Vancouver Canucks spoiled Todd Bertuzzi’s homecoming Tuesday night.

Naslund, Vancouver’s captain and Bertuzzi’s former partner on a high-octane Canucks line the first half of this decade, scored a goal and added an assist to spark a 4-0 victory over the Ducks at GM Place.

The game was Bertuzzi’s first in Vancouver since the Canucks sent him to the Florida Panthers in a blockbuster June 2006 trade that landed goaltender Roberto Luongo.

The Ducks arrived in Vancouver with media waiting to greet former Canuck, Todd Bertuzzi. Their arrival did not go unnoticed but their game against the Canucks was no reason to hold a press conference. It was a “what not to do” moment for a team that had shown better character just two nights before in coming from behind to defeat the Kings.

The Ducks best period was the first period. They outshot the Canucks 15 - 5 and had the best chances. Goalie Roberto Luongo kept the Canucks in the game. It is unclear what happened between periods, but it appears the Ducks left their game plan in the locker room and Vancouver got going with theirs in the second.

LA Times Coverage

As they do for every game, the Ducks committed their affair with the Vancouver Canucks to videotape for review later, but their performance Tuesday night should warrant the burning of any and all copies.
The Ducks got frustrated as the night wore on and simply dissolved as a team from the second period on in what will go down as an unqualified mess in a 4-0 loss at General Motors Place.

National Post Coverage

In what is quickly turning into a November to remember for the Canucks, maybe now Vancouver can finally forget about Todd Bertuzzi.

The Canucks spoiled Bertuzzi's much-ballyhooed return with an impressive 4-0 win Tuesday night over the Anaheim Ducks at GM Place.

Bertuzzi did his part: he was minus-two on the night.
