Tonight, the Ducks got a belated birthday present with a 2-1 win over the Oilers in regulation. Miracles still happen! Even though Edmonton scored first at 4:32 of the second period on a deflected shot by Marty Reasoner, the Ducks were able to tie things up later in the period. Ryan Getzlaf was able to steal the puck and sent a great pass to Todd Bertuzzi. Bertuzzi shot the puck back to Corey Perry, who was coming at the net hard and easily put it past an out of position Mathieu Garon.

Former Oiler Doug Weight scored the go-ahead goal with 3:39 remaining to give the visiting Anaheim Ducks a 2-1 win over Edmonton on Thursday.

Weight, who played for the Oilers from 1993-2001, took a nifty feed off a rush with teammate Bobby Ryan to get in alone, then snapped a quick shot past the left pad of Edmonton goalie Mathieu Garon.

The Oilers took a 1-0 lead when Marty Reasoner re-directed Tom Gilbert’s point shot past Ducks goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere at 4:32 of the second period, but the Ducks got even on Corey Perry’s team-high 20th goal of the season at 12:38.

Ryan Getzlaf, who had lost the faceoff that led to Reasoner’s goal, led a three-on-two rush that resulted in Perry’s goal. Getzlaf fed on left wing to Todd Bertuzzi, who carried the puck below the goal line and dished in front to Perry, who buried a quick shot just before being flattened by Oilers center Robert Nilsson.

In what was the final regular season meeting between the two teams, the Ducks threw eights shots at Garon in the first 20 minutes while the Oilers generated four of their own - including the shorthanded shot Fernando Pisani rang off the iron.
