The Ducks are struggling. There is no question about it. They are more than aware of their shortcomings. There have been meetings. There has been yelling and screaming. There has been quiet. Coach Randy Carlyle said there was a “huge” list of possibilities of what was wrong. While he did not list each one, here are some of the obvious problems:

Andy McDonald has kept a smile on his face, like a Wal-Mart greeter, saying hello to one and all who've sidled up to play with him.
But these are not the happiest of times for the one-time No. 1 centre on the defending Stanley Cup champion Anaheim Ducks.
Nobody's felt the loss of winger Teemu Selanne more than McDonald. He had 163 points over two years as the Finnish Flash's sidekick, and probably assisted on 70 of Selanne's 88 goals during the past two seasons. In addition, McDonald scored 10 goals and 14 points during the Ducks' playoff drive last spring.
