Friday morning quick news

I thought I'd make a quick post before going to work.  I found some video highlights via TSN and a nice article on Bobby Ryan.

Bobby Ryan thinks he's ready to be a Duck

ANAHEIM, Calif. — After spending the last two years playing junior hockey, Bobby Ryan appears more than ready to embark on his first full pro season.

Ryan, who was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2005 NHL draft behind Sidney Crosby, spent most of his summer preparing for training camp and his first chance to make a favorable impression on the Anaheim Ducks' coaching staff.

Nobody knows where Ryan will be when Anaheim, the reigning Stanley Cup champion, breaks camp Sept. 24 and flies to England to open the season against the Los Angeles Kings in London.

"What I'm trying to do is to take it day by day," Ryan said. "But I feel I'm ready to make the leap."

In the first two days of the Ducks' training camp, Ryan has played hard-nosed hockey in scrimmages and has shown he can keep up with the veterans.

"It's only the second day of training camp but it will be interesting to see how he does when the exhibition games start, with the pace of the games up a notch," Anaheim Coach Randy Carlyle said.

"We'll try to put him in situations where he can play with our offensive players."

In the Ducks' exhibition opener tonight against the Los Angeles Kings at the Honda Center, the Ducks' home arena, Ryan is scheduled to play right wing on a line with left wing Chris Kunitz and center Ryan Getzlaf, who both spent time in Portland during the 2005-06 season.

While finishing up his time in junior hockey playing for Owen Sound in the Ontario Hockey League, Ryan, who turned 20 last March, also had two brief stints with the Pirates.

In 2006 he had one goal and seven assists in 19 playoff games with the Pirates. Last spring, in eight regular-season games with Portland, he had three goals and six assists.
